The Second Day at Ukiah

The second day was my favorite day and you're about to find out why. My team and I had just got in the pool for warm up. I was going to swim the 500 free today and the 100 IM. After warm up, I did some dives. The 500 free was the first event and I had a big goal: to get the Humboldt Swim Club 10 and under girls 500 freestyle team record. I talk to my coach before I head over to the blocks. She says even if I don't get the record, I shouldn't be upset, I should be happy. " Event 201. Ladies 500 meter freestyle. Heat 1. I step up on to the blocks, my heart thumping with excitement. I shoot off the blocks. I start to see my cards. 3, 5, 7, 9, 11, 13, 15, 17, and finally, I see the red. I go as fast as I possibly can. I touch the wall so hard I feel like it's going to break. I look at my time. A 6:25. My time coming into this event was a 6: 41. But as I also remember, the team record was a 6:28. I had made a team record!

My second event was the 100 IM. But that was the last event so, I had a while until I swam again. As I waited, I cheered on teammates, time my teammates, and talk. I mostly cheered on my teammates. It was eventually time to warm up. So when I warmed up, I did a little bit of everything. Some fly, some back, some breast, and some free. Eventually, I have to get out. I head over to the blocks and jump up and down. I step on to the block, " Take your marks," I shoot off the block. First is my fly. Check. Second, I have my backstroke. Check. Then, I have my breaststroke. Check. To bring it home, I have my freestyle.

After that, I have my 10 and under 200 yard relay. So, I grab my team and warm up. We do some kicking and sculling. After, we take our relay slip, we head over. It looks like I'm last. As I cheer on my relay team, I notice we're in first. Then, the other team over throw us. I realize, I have to lose them. When I shoot off the block, I go fast. As I touch the wall, I know we won. It was one fun swim meet.
